Preparing for the Holidays

I don’t know about you, but at the start of a new year, I’m usually pretty shell shocked from the end of the previous.
Last week, the phrase I heard repeated most often was “It’s too early for Christmas music. It’s not even Halloween yet!”
I’m guessing the next few weeks will be filled with exclamations of “It’s too early for Christmas music. It’s not even Thanksgiving yet!”
I totally agree. Take these holidays as they come. Don’t jump the gun. We’re busy enough as it is. We don’t have time to juggle multiple holidays at once.
On the other hand, this time of year seems so filled with holidays. One after another and before we know it they’ve all come and gone. Halloween, thanksgiving, advent, Christmas, new years day. It makes sense to prepare in advance.

Good Samaritan, I was not...

Before we get started, if you’re not already familiar with the story, I suggest you read the parable of the good Samaritan.
To be completely honest, most days I would probably claim to have a low opinion of myself while actually thinking quite highly. Tuesday morning, I found myself truly humbled by how low I can sink.
